rethread * oklahoma city * a collective effort for neighbors by neighbors
*We are currently taking volunteers for the:
WINTER COAT STORE (Saturday, October 16)
SIGN UP to be a part of providing clothes for area children and building solidarity with neighbors.
We invite you to TAKE ACTION by signing up on the form on this page for one of the following areas. We believe working together is what makes the days before, during, and after the store so special. If you have any questions about signing up, email us.
co-shopper
Co-shoppers are responsible for assisting families in finding the right clothing for their children. Co-shoppers identify what families are in need of and then assist them in finding those items. Most important, co-shoppers are given the unique opportunity to begin the process of building a relationship with the families they assist.
street team
As a part of the street team you will help bring awareness to the surrounding neighborhood about an upcoming rethread store. The street team gathers at the space a few days prior to the store and then goes out in to the neighborhood to hand out flyers and visit with families.
Being a part of the street team is a great way to get to know families and indviduals inside the Plaza District neighborhood and to personally invite them to the store.
store builder
Every store has its own unique look and design. As a store builder you have the opportunity in helping to create and bring that store to life. Store builders also help in unpacking and sorting donated items for that particular store.
child care
If you are a parent, I'm sure at some point you have had to deal with the frustration of trying to shop with your young children present. It is extremely difficult if not impossible.
We want to make the shopping experience for parents as fun and stress free as possible. As a member of this team, you are giving mom's and dad's the opportunity to enjoy their shopping experience as you spend time with thier children. At the same time you are making this experience memorable for the children by engaging with them in something they enjoy, like coloring or making a craft.
beyond the store
Rethread stores are really only the beiginning of what we hope becomes a relationship with families inside the neighborhood.
As a member of this team you have the amazing opportunity to contact families after the store is over. In the beginning, this might involve visiting with them over the phone or email, dropping them a note in the mail, or even sitting with them at a community meal.
Simply stated, being a part of this team presents each of us with the wonderful opportunity of forming a new and lasting friendship.
